Those of you who know me, know that I encourage everyone to buy all organic products. However, I realize that sometimes this can be difficult to do. So, here is a list of 5 organic foods that are definitely worth the money spent on them!
Baby Foods! Developing bodies, in particular the immune, neurological and hormonal systems, are more vulnerable to toxins. As a result, infants may absorb pesticides more easily. Not only that, research has shown that organic foods are more nutritious than conventional foods – even more reason to buy organic for your infants.
Meat! There are no synthetic growth hormones and antibiotic drugs used on organic animals which is reason alone to buy organic. Conventional meats are also often subject to genetic modification and/or fed genetically modified products. It is crucial that you refrain, as much as possible, from ingesting these dangerous toxins.
Milk and Dairy Products! Conventional dairy cows are fed grains heavily treated with chemicals which ultimately show up in the milk. Non-organic milk can also contain bovine growth hormone and antibiotics. Buying organic keeps these toxins out of the cows and out of your glass.
Apples! More pesticides are found on apples than on any other fruit or vegetable. They topped the 2011 Dirty Dozen list for a reason – more than 40 different pesticides have been detected on apples! Seems that an apple a day will no longer keep the doctor away – unless they’re organic.
Strawberries! Strawberries are one of the least safe fruits to consume because the chemicals sprayed onto them cannot be washed or peeled off and essentially become part of the fruit itself. Basically, there is no barrier (peel) to keep absorption of carcinogens out of the fruit that has been heavily sprayed.
